This is the Bench. The Bench is used in a social experiment wherein we analyze the actions and reactions of everyday human beings when confronted with images and occurances that are deemed ‘abnormal’ or outside the accepted social norm.
That was a lie. We’re just very bored and too cheap to drink at the bars in our area.
This odd little activity was started by my two friends, Joao and Norm. I had tasked them to carry the Bench to my new appartment, which was about a 5 minute walk away from my old place. After an hour they finally arrive, and inform me (in a fit of laughter) that they had periodically placed the bench on the sidewalk for a quick smoke. What they didn’t know was that they had started a small tradition that was both economical and entertaining.
Every now and then, my friends and I take the Bench out and we sit in random places for a drink(or ten).The reactions we get from passers by range from confusion to laughter. It was sitting on that bench one night that I noticed things. Funny things that one could only notice late at night while tipsy on Screw Drivers. And that’s where I came up with the idea of blogging.
